The International Typography Biennale 'Typo Festival 2017: The Body' will be held from September 15th until October 29th at the Munhwa Station Seoul 284. This event is held by Korea's Culture and Tourism ministry along with Korean Pottery, Design Culture Committee, and the Korea Typography Academy.
At the opening ceremony on the 15th, the 'Bodying Choreography' performance by choreographer Eunjin Choi and the 'Inhabit a Planet'performance by Tereza Ruller, an artist part of the event displayed work of arts that gave new inspiration to the ideas of the body and typography.
Executive producer Byunghak Ahn, professor of Hongik University said, "Typography has developed over history in order to communicate the minds of people to people and to share knowledge of life. 'Typography 2017' is the world's exclusive typography biennale that will be a gathering of re-discovering the potential of typography and its artistic value."
This year being the 5th festival, the 'Typography 2017' is a hub of ongoing research about the worths and possibilities typography and letter art can have, recognizing the beauty and artistic values of our daily tool in living, letters. Artists all over the world from America, Brazil, Germany, Netherland, and more in the total of 216 artists in teams and individuals will be represented.
At this exhibition, there will be a main hall exhibition and meeting with the artists' program about 'Body & Typography', showing how images and characters of letters are intertwined with the philosophies of human nature.
In ten different themes, the exhibition includes, ▲ Times of Writings, ▲ Writing in Red: Where Body & Typography Meets ▲ 100 Daughters and 10 Moms ▲ Playground: Designer's Play and more. Kinetic Designer Ted Davis(USA), Interactive Media Group LUST(Netherland), Min ByungGul(Korea) and more artist from all bounds of art fields will be participating at the grand event.
