[MHN] BTS dropped a new trailer for its much-anticipated upcoming album "Map of the Soul: Persona" on Thursday, drawing more than 5 million YouTube views in about seven hours after its release.
Team leader RM single-handedly filled the three-minute video for "Persona," the intro track of the upcoming album, with his vigorous rap and matching hand and body gestures.
The video trailer garnered more than 5 million views on YouTube in slightly seven hours following the release at the beginning of Thursday, as well as a slew of reaction videos by YouTubers.
The intro that starts with the phrase "Who am I" is a hip-hop track that is based on the trap genre and laced with rocking guitar sounds, according to the band's management agency Big Hit Entertainment.
It said the song was created with resampled beats from "Skool Luv Affair," the intro of BTS' 2014 album with the same title.
Hig Hit said it used 3-D scanning to create a digital humanoid that represents RM's persona in the trailer video.
BTS is scheduled to officially release the new album on April 12 on the world music scene and premier it on American TV network NBC's nightly show "SNL" on April 13.
